Breastfeeding on the SCD diet

I recently gave birth BH, and I'm on the diet since mid-pregnancy.
After I gave birth, my weight dropped significantly - about 10 lbs less than before the pregnancy.
I'm breasfeeding exclusively and want to maintain my weight.
How do I make sure I don't lose more weight?

You could probably benefit greatly from a consult with a registered dietitian. (If insurance doesn't cover it, you probably just need one appointment.) She could work with you to figure out how many calories you need each day, and also which nutrients and foods you should make sure you're eating so your baby can get full nutrition. A note: if the dietitian isn't familiar with the SCD diet, come prepared with a paper of a summary of what foods you can and can't eat.

If you're looking for more calories, I would suggest nuts and nut products (nut butter, baked goods with almond flour), salmon, and avocado.

Hatzlacha, and mazel tov!

Can anyone recommend a dietician that would be good for this?

Weight-loss is common with breastfeeding. Stay hydrated, drink extra fluids and add extra calories daily if the weight loss is a concern. This can mean extra snacking between meals or adding mini-meals to your day. If symptomatic use whatever foods are best tolerated. Nut flours, cheese, yogurts are examples of legal higher calorie foods.

Hi Malky the breastfed my second baby till 2 years of age strict on SCD. I did loose a lot of weight after delivery but I gained weight on SCD while breastfeeding. First, make sure to drink PLENTY of water! Second, everything that was allowed on SCD, I ate lots of! - plenty of protein and avocado and nuts( if you can handle it pecans helped a lot) and I pumped as well. I didn’t think I could pull it for that long but it was possible.! Best of luck and stay well. Good health to you and your baby!!
