Advice for Athlete on SCD

My 14 yo son is an athlete. He was diagnosed 4 years ago with UC and has done well on SCD diet. He is a healthy weight but in terms of building lean muscle mass and bulking up a little, it is hard on SCD. He has a smoothie every morning with honey, avocado and fruit. On SCD, he can't do traditional protein shakes. Any advice would be appreciated. Daily, he eats cocoa butter cookies, honey bars, other cookies as well.

Make him a lot of steaks and a lot of meat chicken in addition maybe try getting him a personal trainer to build muscle like push ups pull ups and other excersizes .....hope this helps !!

I’m a big fan of putting nuts in my smoothies. A usually add a few walnuts, at least a tablespoon of pumpkin seeds, some fresh almonds or almond butter and even a tablespoon of shredded coconut. I use homemade almond milk as my liquid.\nCan he tolerate cheese or peanut butter. They are both great as a snack with sliced apples. \nGood luck
