Hello all,\n\nI'm just starting the SC diet... one week and 2 days in to be exact... and so far the pain is/has decreased (which I'm very thankful for) but there is still some inflammation and tenderness. I'm wondering if others, even apart from other symptoms, took time for the abdominal pain to go away/decrease. What is your experience? Is this going to take time? I'm just wondering what to expect and how to gauge the effectiveness of the diet. I'm not currently on any meds.\n\nThanks for any thoughts!

Sheila T. shared the following:\nHello 'just starting',\nWhen I started SCD i was having a lot of pain, discomfort , urgency, and frequent bloody diarrhea. Immediately the urgency abated. The pain drastically reduced and the frequency of bowel movements (bm's) also decreased. Over time the bm's became solid and the last symptom to disappear was the blood. Although the blood decreased significantly as the bms firmed up.\nHowever, each person's reactions to the diet tend to depend on what they scd foods they are eating and what symptoms and severity they start with. I definitely had a trial and error period of figuring out what scd foods worked for me. \nSheila

Thanks for posting. Yes, that makes sense... each person is going to have a different experience and trial and error is a good way to determine what's going to work for one on the SCD. \n\nThanks again.
