My teenage daughters were both diagnosed with severe to moderate UC about one year and a half ago. The younger of the two was first, and was in such bad condition and unresponsive to the steroid that the doctor ordered that she be put on Remicade to save her from surgery. Six months later her sister had symptoms and was quickly admitted and the steroid stopped her inflammation so no Remicade was needed. They have been on SCD since March 2019 and both have had colonoscopies 6 months ago that came out perfect! Neither have had any bloody stools and all blood tests have been great. My husband and I are worried though about the younger one on Remicade since it has been causing her to become more susceptible to bacterial infections, for instance ear and foot skin conditions. We have been able to manage them but it is still quite unnerving that she becomes Infected so easily. We are also concerned about COVID19 susceptibility being increased while on Remicade. I am wondering if anyone has information related to discontinuing their Remicade treatments while continuing SCD. I have ulcerative colitis and sibo and more I've tried mesalemine and cortisone which didn't work , I tried paleo, scd diets they don"t really make a difference , My main job is to sleep well, eat often, b calm and generally watch how and when I eat,Dairy has always been a no no. fruits and vegetables eaten sparingly and many more \nNot everything is food related though. i am currently only on probiotics and have no blood. I think u shall go for a second opinion on remicade, It is usually a on and off process with medication,
