When to advance from stage 1

Hi! I’ve been on the SCD diet for 2 months now. I haven’t advanced from stage 1, as I’m still seeing bits of blood in my stool. I was thinking of only advancing once all blood disappeared. Now I’m getting worried it’s never going to disappear on the SCD. Any advice? I’ve cut out eggs to see if that will help. I’m eating a lot of chicken, turkey, butternut squash, acorn squash, fish and bone broth. I haven’t tried the yogurt as I haven’t had dairy for a few years, but I’m going to try it soon once my yogurt maker I purchased arrives. Any advice? Words of encouragement?\n\nThank you in advance 🙏

Yours is the first message that I can relate to! I was diagnosed with UC at the beginning of March this year and got right on the diet, thanks to my Naturopath. I still had blood and mucus until the beginning of June. I haven’t made the yogurt either and I am still adding cooked veggies to my diet. Be patient and be fanatic...it’s the only way to go. And love your eggs...they are such a great protein and we need all the goodness we can get right now!!

Hi Serinie\nLike Monk said hang in there. I have been on the SCD diet for SIBO for 3 years now and have seen marked improvement. It is a long slow steady uphill battle but well worth it. I did the yogurt from the beginning and had no bad effects. I believe it has supported the good stuff in my gut. I also have tried acupuncture which helped with nervous system and anxiety which tends to bring on my symptoms almost as much as the food does. Did EVERYTHING cooked for a long long time as well.

Good luck. When you don't see the results it is hard to keep going. Don't give up. I recommend Homemade Ginger Tea and a fermented drink called rejuvilac with helps with the healing. I no longer have the recipe for rejuvilac - but maybe someone else on the forum does...
