Hi I was also very low iron and I get iron infusions every few months a series of five infusions 1 every week. for 30 minutes. then I get tested to see if it went up.\nusually it goes up nicely but drops after a few months so I get another set of infusions.\nthe way to get started is to go to a hematologist who will do blood work and get you going. \n\nyou will feel much better after getting the infusions.\nI figured that if they mix the iron with more saline its much easier on the stomach. (it takes a little longer.about 45 min.)\nI would also recommend you to make juice out of romaine lettuce and spinach kale beets as they will help maintain the iron levels. \nany other questions fell free to ask.

Hi there, I had two iron infusions to increase iron levels. They did it with a painless IV injection drip that took about half an hour to drop through. The drip looks like a deep brown liquid. It took about two weeks for the iron to be absorbed, so I didn't feel any immediate difference. But after two weeks I did feel a marked improvement. My numbers stayed high for about 6 months before I needed a repeat infusion. It's really not a big scary procedure at all, and if it's necessary it's worth taking care of right away. \nWishing you all the best.
