My son's iron is very low. He needs iron. Iron pills do not agree with him. Does anyone know what chelated iron is? I know that Wellbee's sells it, but I don't know what it is. Would it help my son? \nDoes anybody know anything about iron injections?

Iron supplements are generally heavy on the gut, and therefore, Elaine did not approve iron supplements. However, she made an exception with "chelated iron", since it's gentle on the gut. As mentioned before, iron can be slowly raised by eating iron rich foods and very importantly vitamin c at the same time. \nThe following foods are good sources of iron - SCD approved:\nChicken/beef liver\nBeef (chuck roast, lean ground beef)\nTurkey leg\nTuna\nEggs\nLeg of lamb\nBeans (kidney, lima, Navy)\nLentils\nSpinach\nPeanut butter\nTry to combine iron foods with vitamin C (for example, a glass of orange juice) to increase absorption of iron.
