Avoiding surgery by being on a SCD diet

Has anyone avoided surgery by switching to a scd diet? I was just told that my only option is surgery. I'm 26 and had crohns for a year. Wondering if anyone has avoided surgery through a change in diet!

Avoiding surgery by being on a SCD diet

\n\nYes people have been able to avoid Surgery with the diet\nThe founder of the diet writes that the doctors told her that her child needs Surgery \nUntil she found a doctor who helped her avoid Surgery with this diet\n\nEvery case is different\nhere is what i can share From my experience .\n\ni had chorns for around 2 years till the pain got unbareable \ntried all meds available and some vitamins butt nothing helped\ni started the diet and the pain got better right away \nbut i still had to undergo surgery \ni guess i started the diet to late\nif your doctor agrees that this diet works but in your case you need surgery then you might consider surgery \nbut if not then may be try to find a doctor who will give you the chance to try the diet\nalso i decided to stay on the diet even after the surgery because the doctor told me that the chance of getting it back is very high\ndont think that the surgery is a easy quick fix (surgeon told me it is)\n\nmay be post more details so some one can advice you more

Surgery is really no picnic. Once you go under the scissors, you'll never get that piece of intestines back. Typically, a year or two after surgery, Crohn's will most likely come back- perhaps even worse than before. Of course, there's a time and place for everything, and if surgery is truly the only option, then go for it. However, make sure you make a very educated decision. There's a doctor in NY in Mount Sinai hospital, Dr. James George, who is very pro SCD. If you live in the NY area, I would advise you go to him for a second opinion. Make sure you get guidance when you do the SCD, so you do the stages correctly. I've witnessed a nice amount of patients who were told that surgery was their only option, and they proved their doctors wrong, thanks to SCD!

Avoiding surgery by being on a SCD diet

Hi the link is an email address to get personnel advice on SCD its not free but well worth the money \n\nits hard to prove that the diet works since the doctor will say that its the meds that did it.\n but if you talk to people that went only with meds they will all agree that at some point the meds stopped working and they had to switch to different ones again and again and go through surgery (like myself) but then its very late in the game to start the diet \nthe sooner you start the diet the better \nmay take a few months for your son to digest the news then start talking to him about the diet \nso the proof that the diet works is that you feel better and the disease does not progress \n\nI personally do meds with diet combined its not easy @ first but its a lifestyle change that gets second nature \nthe reward for being on the diet is that you feel better and that you do the best in your hands \ni have been on the diet for 6 years and fell generally good \n\nDont be a sad mom its something that will get better with time\n\nGood Luck
