Raw Corned Beef OK?

Is raw corned beef roast from a butcher okay? I thought I'd cook it, slice it, and have corned beef instead of cold cuts. Any reason why not?

I know this is an old topic but I am really trying to learn all I can.
What is the answer to this please? Are pickling agents used in cold cuts ok?

Also, I have a friend whose husband has a take out store and her 11 year old son is on the SCD diet. She told me Solomon’s cold cuts are okay bc they have no sugar. Is it okay to give to my son?

It's not only the sugar - there may be other problematic ingredients.
I would need to see the label to determine.

Pickled meat is not legal.

the pickling spice used for tongue or other meats have sugar, everyone takes the pickling spice from Meal Mart and they confirmed that they put sugar.
