SCD Legal Soy Sauce

Here's a recipe that another SCD'er once shared with me:\nHer notes: Here is the recipe I found online for soy sauce. It clearly isn’t exactly like soy sauce it’s a decent substitute. I haven’t found anything better, then again I haven’t looked much further. I use it in all recipes that call fir soy sauce:

Added note to recipe: the garlic should be crushed.

I've tried a similar recipe, with dark beef bone broth instead of the water. It tastes very close to the real thing. For Kosher, though, it can't be used with dairy or fish, obviously. Enjoy!

Hi Freeda! \n\nI'll try to post an exact recipe later on this week.\n\nIn the meantime, dark beef bone broth can be made basically the same way regular bone broth is made (marrow, neck, knee bones, etc. and water). Boil, then lower to a simmer for 48 hours. To make it dark, raise the flame slightly for a few hours, adding water as needed.\n\nI'll try to post a clearer recipe later, but I figured you can start with the bone broth since it needs time to cook.\n\nEnjoy!!

I've seen Coconut aminos used as a soy sauce substitute in a number of places.\n1. Is it SCD legal?\n2. If yes, is there any kosher brand of it?

Coconut amino is not legal. We cannot be sure all the sugar has been broken down by the manufacturing process. The sap is mostly sucrose, which is illegal.
