New and Starting Out

I've been seeing a lot about the SCD diet and am strongly considering starting. However, I'm trying to figure out how to get through the beginning stages with so few allowed foods. Are there any recipes for stage 1 and 2 or do I need to eat plain cooked pureed vegetables like baby food?\nAlso, I see many ppl with crohn's have had success with this diet. How about Ulcerative Colitis?

New and Starting Out

The lady who originally founded the SCD diet and wrote the book breaking the vicious cycle did it for her son who had ulcerative colitis. I have it too and unfortunately the diet didn't work too well for me. After a few months I had a terrible flare (which is normal) but it would not calm down and I was getting worse and worse.\n You can definitely try it because every body is different! Go for it!!! It helped many of my friends!!!! I heard so many stories where it cured! \nWishing you much luck!

New and Starting Out

My 21 year old son had Crohn's. When we started the SCD, a week later, he needed surgery because he was in very bad shape. However, he continued the SCD intro diet, even while recovering in the hospital, as I brought him the foods. He refused the humira and remicade that the doctors were pushing, and weaned himself off the prednisone. He continued the diet strictly for 1 year 9 mths with no meds, then went Vegan. A few months ago, after eating a salad at a fast food restaurant, he had stomach painsandthought the Crohn's was back so went to the emergency room. The results of the cat scan showed food poisoning but no Crohn's! So for him, the diet worked, as they say there's a good chance the Crohn's would return after surgery. It's been 2 1/2 years since his surgery, and he is still Crohn's freeandon no meds. This diet is recommended for UC as well. Also, we were extremely grateful to find Wellbee's products and this forum which we didn't have in the early months of his sickness. And I bought the cookbook, A Taste of Wellness, from Wellbee's, with lots of great recipes that added so much variety to the SCD diet. Hope our story helps. Good Luck!
