Should I switch medicines? Please help!

Hi all!

I was previously on Humira, but my doctors switched me because I had a really bad flare. On Humira I had some side effects, but they were manageable. I am miserable on Stelara. I am in college and can barely function. I am utterly exhausted and am experiencing mood swings and having trouble sitting still, as well as having nightmares and trouble remembering basic things. These things are not normal for me. I am also gaining weight even though I exercise and eat healthy amounts.

I really want to go back on the Humira, but my doctors say that since I had a flare while on it, it might not work for me. Have any of you had a flare on a medicine but continued on it and it still worked?

Does anyone have suggestions for other medicines? My doctors seem to think I've used up all my options. I can't do Remicade because I had a major allergic reaction.

I follow the SCD strictly, and have for years, but I am just feeling lost and a little hopeless. I don't know what direction to go, but being on Stelara is not really livable for me.

I don’t think it makes sense that since you had a flare only 1 time the doctor is now switching your medication it’s Very normal to have a flare on any
Medication I’m really surprised at your doctor. I was on entivio and had ares on and off. The medication worked ok for me and the reason I came off was Bec I needed a more working medication to gain and grow. So yes I do have experience on a med with flare and continued working but not to the extent to put me on remission. Also maybe you changes something in your diet and you didn’t realize and being in college in very stressful sometimes so maybe your just having a stresses out semester . Another factor is season change I read up that season changes sometimes cause flares . So key you should have in mind is that it’s very normal to
Have flare up don’t panic most likely you ate something you weren’t suppose to or changes your diet or even the weather hope this helps!
